Preseason Scouting Report by Joe Belic

Created August 24, 2021

Projection: 1st Round
Notes:

(+) Frame

At 6' 6" and almost 270 pounds with room to grow, Harrison moves well for a player of his stature. The combination of length, power, and speed at his size will have scouts on high alert.

(+) Explosiveness

Harrison fires off the snap and does a fine job of getting around the edge. Admittedly, his burst wasn't as consistent in 2020 compared to 2019, perhaps because Harrison put on significant weight and just needs time to acclimate to his growing body.

(+) Speed to Power

Right now, Harrison's best and most effective path to the QB is going through (not around) the tackle with a bull rush. His length, coupled with his linear speed and power, allow him to get into the chest of a tackle, collapse the pocket, and flow to the quarterback.

(-) Needs Growth

Harrison exhibits excellent potential. He flashes burst around the edge and has good footwork at times; he can bait an OT to move in one direction so that he can take advantage of him in another direction (inside or outside). He even displayed some moves: cross chop, chop-rip, long arm, double swipe, bull rush. However, his play doesn't come with the consistency that would make me believe he's a bona fide lock to go in the first round. Harrison has much more to prove, and my ranking is based on where I think he can go rather than where he is right now—which can be said for most prospects.

(-) Explosiveness

The explosion off the snap is present, but it can wane if the OL gets their hands on him. I need to see him keep up the same effort from start to finish and work on his counter moves to combat proper hand placement by the OL.

(-) Technique

Harrison has some pass rush moves in his arsenal, but he needs to refine his technique and formulate a plan.
