Projection: 1st Round
Notes:
(+) Ball Skills
Booth is extremely comfortable making plays on the ball downfield. He has great hands and good functional length to disrupt the receiver.
(+) Reactive Athleticism
Booth is very athletic. He rarely gets stacked by receivers and he has great click-and-close ability to close from several yards of depth on short passes. I expect him to rub sub-4.45 and have top agility and jumping numbers at the NFL Combine.
(+) Competitive Temperament
Booth is very outwardly competitive. He never shies away from celebrating when his defense makes a key play and will frequently taunt opposing receivers. He exhibits excellent competitive temperament for a cornerback.
(-) Limited Sample Size
Booth rotated in and out of games in 2020, so the key question for him in 2021 is whether he can maintain the same level of play across a full season. If he does this, he is a top-15 prospect.
(-) Lack of Hand Usage at the Top of Routes
Joseph would improve his mirroring skills by getting his hands on receivers at the top of their routes before they break. Although his mirroring skills are excellent, no cornerback can guard receivers for a whole game without using their hands without giving up catches.
